Central Air Conditioners in the Boulder/Denver Metro AreaCentral air conditioners function best when sized and installed correctly. Save Home Heat will ensure this is properly done, with a broad range of products to satisfy most any budget.

Please review these tips as you consider a new air conditioner for your home:

Efficiency of New Air Conditioners

Energy Star Most Efficient 2021 Logo - Save Home HeatThe minimum efficiency rating (higher is better) of new air conditioners is currently 14 SEER, which is much more efficient than many models installed from 1980 to 2006. Back in the ’80s, 10 SEER rated air conditioners were considered fairly high efficiency, and 12 and 14 SEER units were top of the line. We’ve come along way, baby! Efficiency ratings as high as 28 SEER are now available.

Effectiveness and Comfort

A properly sized and installed air conditioner can make a huge improvement in the comfort level in your home. It doesn’t have to work poorly! And while it may seem counter-intuitive, a smaller system is often what your home needs to cool better. Proper airflow is the key. During the installation process, we typically modify the sheet metal surrounding the furnace to improve air movement through the duct system.

Noise

Old outdoor air conditioners are typically loud. We offer models that operate at greatly reduced decibel levels, which can dramatically reduce the impact on you and your neighbors.

Variable-Capacity and Two-Stage Models

Air conditioners are now available with modulating, as well as 2-stage designs. This equipment is highly efficient and can significantly improve comfort levels by more evenly distributing the cold air in your home. Customers often complain that parts of their home don’t cool well, or that they freeze in certain areas and boil in others. By delivering air at a reduced output level and lower fan speeds for a longer period of time, modulating, or variable-capacity equipment can eliminate or reduce these issues. While operating in lower output levels, this equipment is especially quiet – indoors and out.

The longer run-times associated especially with variable-capacity systems also allows the filter in your furnace or air handler to do a better job cleaning your indoor air.

Of special note to Colorado Front Range homeowners, variable-capacity air conditioners are the best central AC choice for our widely varying climate and temperatures. With this type of equipment, the system works at full cooling capacity only when the weather demands it. On days when the sun is not blasting quite as hot, you pay less to run your air conditioner because it isn’t working as hard to get the job done. Quieter, and lighter on your electric bill! Please note, in order to reap the benefits of variable-capacity central AC systems, it may be necessary to upgrade your existing furnace to a model with matching features.

Environmental Impact

ACCA Save Home HeatNew air conditioning systems use R-410a refrigerant, which is considered much less harmful to the atmosphere in the unlikely event of a system leak. Newer systems are also more efficient, meaning less energy is consumed and the environmental impact is reduced. The metal and copper from your old air conditioner system will be recycled.
