Federal Income Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency
Dating back to 2009, there was a $500 federal tax credit available to help offset an investment made in high efficiency heating or cooling for your home (as well as other energy saving updates). That credit expired on 12/31/2016, and we are not aware of any action pending to extend it. According to the ENERGY STAR website, there are currently credits available for certain solar energy system investments.
For more information on federal tax credits for energy efficiency upgrades, we suggest you consult your tax adviser. You can also visit the ENERGY STAR website.
